Our Price: $2.60
8 X 1/4 LOOSE BUFF
Our Price: $3.95
Loose (One row of stitching)
Our loose buffs have only one stitched row around the arbor hole and are 20 ply (1/4" thick) or 70 ply (3/4" thick).  These are designed for final finishing and because their loose construction offers little or no resistance, they are of little value for scratch removal.
Specify what size arbor hole.

Our sewn buffs are made of the same cloth as the loose buffs, but are sewn with concentric circles 3/8" apart to stiffen the buff and give it more resistance for better cutting action. (Rows of Stitching 3/8" Apart) Specify arbor hole size.
10 X 1/4 LOOSE BUFF
Our Price: $5.50
A stitched muslin buff which is tapered from the center to a thin razor edge.  The center is reinforced with leather to keep it rigid on a tapered spindle.  This buff will give you polishing access to areas as narrow as 1/8".  Available Diameters: 4" and 6". SEWN (rows of stitching 1/8" apart) Sisal is the strong tough fiber of the agave plant and is imported from Yucatan, Mexico.  The sisal is formed into twisted strands and then woven into a coarse heavy cloth.  The cloth is then cut into disks, with the disks stacked to obtain the desired thickness (each turned slightly to assure even wear) and sewn together in 1/8" rows.  The sisal buff is used with a coarse grease based compound for cutting operations.  Since sisal does not hold compound well, it must be applied frequently.  Sisal is also used with a finer grease compound for blending operations prior to polishing.

The yellow treated buff has starches and a small amount of hard wax added during the manufacturing process.  It is a stiffer buff and will produce a faster cut than the sewn muslin buff.  It is not suitable for applications where flexing is desirable.  Hardened Center Pin Hole.

The hard polishing buff is made of sewn sections of 64/68 cloth which are glued together under pressure to provide a hard, resistant wheel.  It is used with coarse cutting compounds as a set-up wheel or with fine compounds for final polishing.  It is particularly good for polishing flat surfaces where the full width of the face can be used.  It  can, of course, be shaped to fit any surface where repetitive polishing operations are necessary. Specify what size arbor hole. Felt wheels, because of their price, are the obvious Cadillacs of the polishing and buffing world.  They are constructed of wool fibers compressed into wheels of varying hardness from extra soft to flint hard.  Each of these densities or hardnesses has its place in polishing and finishing, but the most common are soft, medium and hard.  Felt wheels can be used for every finishing operation, from set-up wheels with greaseless or glue based compounds to the final buffing with a coloring compound for a mirror finish.  They are particularly well suited to operations where the operator wishes to polish to a grind or casting line without erasing the line.  Soft cloth wheels roll over edges and cause washed-out or blurred lines.
